We asked Joanie and Gabriel the essential five questions about their relationship and proposal! Their answers will leave you ooh’ing and ahh’ing just making you feel so happy and excited for this amazing couple!
1) Where and how did you meet each other?
“We met in September 2008 at a vocational training school on the South shore; Joanie was studying Horticulture and I was studying Landscaping. I noticed Joanie and approached her. We struck up a conversation and we learned that we lived close to one another and so we agreed to travel to school together”.
2) Where was your first date?
“After being friends for 6 months, we realized we had a lot in common and I asked Joanie on a date. Our first date was at Amusemant 222 in Chateauguay where we played a few games of pool and shared some beer. We had so much fun and we talked and talked until 5:00 am. That’s also when we shared our first kiss”.
3) Gabriel, when did you know Joanie was the one?
“Funny enough, after 2 years of dating, Joanie and I had a tiff which was followed by a huge discussion. I realized that Joanie and I had a real relationship; we were friends first, we had the same goals, we were passionate about our beliefs and most of all, I realized how great she really is”.
4) Joanie, when did you know Gabriel was the one?
“This was not an immediate realization. We actually had a very good foundation in our relationship because we were friends first and as our feelings grew for one another our relationship became stronger and stronger. I know he is the one and I am reminded every day: he is a wonderful father to our sons, and he is a loving and supportive husband”.
5) How did you propose Gabriel?
“I proposed to Joanie 4 months after Jacob was born. On the 15th of February 2011, I went to the store to pick up some spray paint and planned to paint my message in the snow. In order to achieve this, I had to walk through deep, soft snow. I made sure the message would be seen from our apartment window. After I had finished, I hurried upstairs to our apartment and in my haste forgot to brush the snow off my clothes and boots. I opened the door to step inside and Joanie immediately noticed how much snow I was leaving on the floor. After she scolded me, I asked her to turn around and look out the window. While she turned to look and read my message, I quickly got down on one knee and presented her with the engagement ring”.
